Lauren Sánchez carried a golden seashell to dinner Wednesday.
The former journalist hit the streets of New York City in a head-turning black suede dress with a plunging neckline and daring slit accented with metal snaps, pairing the look with a sold-out Chloé handbag and sky-high Jimmy Choo heels.
The newly named honorary co-chair of the 2026 Met Gala was photographed outside Chez Margaux, where she dined with her eldest son, Nikko Gonzalez, 25, and his friends.
She carried Chloé’s metal Sea Treasures clutch ($5,800), a sculptural gold shell-shaped bag with dangling shell and coral charms along the chain strap. The piece debuted as part of the French house’s spring 2025 collection and has since sold out.
Sánchez finished the look with Jimmy Choo’s Max 150 sandals ($1,275) in black suede, which boast the brand’s tallest stiletto heel at nearly 6 inches. The made-to-order pair can be customized with initials or a date plaque.
A pair of amber-tinted Bottega Veneta aviator sunglasses ($660) and a gold statement cuff bracelet completed the after-dark ensemble.
Earlier this week, Sánchez appeared on the “Today” show to promote her new children’s book, “The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea,” and discuss her expanded role at fashion’s biggest night alongside husband Jeff Bezos.
“When Anna called me and said, ‘Do you want to co-chair and also be the sponsors of the Met?’ I was so honored,” she said. “It’s going to be incredible to see what everyone wears and to be able to really honor all these designers. I cannot wait.”
Sánchez and Bezos, 62, will co-chair alongside Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour at the May 4 gala, which carries the dress code “Fashion Is Art.”
The former journalist has become a fixture on the fashion week circuit, sitting front row at Schiaparelli and Dior’s haute couture shows in Paris in January with styling help from Law Roach.
She has yet to surface at Paris Fashion Week‘s ready-to-wear shows this week, though heavy-hitters like Chanel, Celine and Louis Vuitton are still to come on the schedule, which wraps on Tuesday.
