Patta and Nike Are Dropping a Bright Orange and Wavy Air Max Sneaker This Week

Last year, Patta and Nike have delivered a series of Air Max 90s featuring a wavy mudguard following the lead of their Air Max 1s from earlier in the decade. They’re now returning to that original concept and doing so with a nod to the Dutch national soccer team.

The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Hyper Crimson” will release this week and is wrapped in a bright orange leather mudguard with more crests and troughs than the Air Max 90s that inform it. A gray mash base and matching suede overlays balance out the bold color, as does cream on the tongue, lining and midsole. Black is then used for the leather Swoosh, while the outsole is split with sections of black, gray and orange.

Patta branding arrives via a white and orange tongue tag, and its logo appears again on the insoles in oversized fashion. Each pair will also come with a gold-tone charm bracelet featuring logos for the two parties and the flag of Suriname, as Patta’s two founders are Surinamese and its name is the language’s word for “shoe.”

Based in Amsterdam, Patta has made its love for soccer well known in its 23-year history. The bright orange here invokes that used by the Dutch national teams, a choice made counter to the country’s red, white and blue flag to invoke the Dutch royal family, which hails from the House of Orange.

Also in the pipeline with orange accents is a Cryoshot Mercurial collaboration first shown at the Champions League final last year and still to be released.

One of Patta’s most famous collaborations is another Air Max 1 in “Chlorophyll” that released in 2009 and was brought back in 2024 for the brand’s 20th anniversary.

The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Hyper Crimson” will release Friday through Patta’s website. Pricing has not yet been confirmed.
