Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) may be eager to see her of-age children settle down, but the matchmaking mama isn’t quite there yet in Bridgerton Season 4. When Marcus (Daniel Francis) comes into the picture, the widowed Violet gets some action in the romance department, initiating a physical relationship with him. But when Marcus later confesses his love and proposes marriage, Violet turns him down in favor of her independence. Marcus ends their affair there, despite Violet’s wish that they keep seeing each other casually. In a fictional world where most romances lead to happily-ever-after marriages — barring a few exceptions — it’s an unexpected move for Bridgerton.
