Kobe Bryant‘s series of Nike Air Force 1 Lows have become quite prolific, but none quite as sentimental as the one that’s now been leaked.
The Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Siempre Hermanos” has been made to celebrate the late player’s bond with Pau Gasol. Bryant is known for being icy to several teammates throughout his career, but the friendship he shared with Gasol, with whom he played for seven years and won two NBA titles, has been well established.
Wheat suede with leather edges forms most of the upper, including foxing with an embroidered pattern. Leather edges carry over the sky blue mustache with Bryant’s logo and a dark brown Swoosh, the former of which matches with the tongue tag and translucent outsole.
A horseshoe shaped lace dubrae then packs Bryant’s logo, along with his initials and no. 24, as well as the numbers 09 and 10 to commemorate the Los Angeles Lakers’ titles in the corresponding years. Also included is the phrase “Siempre Hermanos,” which is Spanish for “Always Brothers.”
In a 2021 feature story on their friendship, Gasol told ESPN Bryant was “the closest thing to a big brother that I’ve had in my life.” Because both could speak Spanish, they’d use the language on the court so opponents couldn’t understand them, and Bryant frequently referred to Gasol as “hermano” on social media.
The Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Siempre Hermanos” will release in the fall, likely through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $150.
