Bealls Names David N. Brown VP of Stores

Bealls has tapped retail veteran David N. Brown to serve as vice president of stores. He will lead store operations for the Bradenton, Fla.-based company nationally.

Brown, who got his start in loss prevention, has more than 25 years of retail leadership experience, with expertise in business strategy, team development, and operational execution. Over the course of his career, he has held key leadership positions with Ross Dress for Less and Target, where he led large, multi-unit operations and successfully turned around underperforming markets. Most recently, Brown served as regional vice president with Ross, where his regions led the company in shrink results and consistently ranked as a top performer in both sales and contribution, according to Bealls.

“We are excited to welcome Dave to the Bealls team,” said Gil Vogler, senior vice president of stores and operations. “Dave’s authentic and humble leadership style is a perfect fit for our culture. His ability to build high-performing teams, drive operational efficiencies, and successfully build and execute strategic initiatives will be instrumental as Bealls continues to expand into new markets.”

Bealls was founded in 1915 and operates more than 650 stores in 22 states under the Bealls, Bealls Florida and Home Centric banners and has annual sales in excess of $2 billion. It remains a privately held company, still owned and operated by the family of the founder, cotton farmer Robert Beall who moved from Georgia to Florida in 1915 to escape a boll weevil infestation and opened a dry goods store.
