New Balance’s hit low-profile 204L sneaker is set to undergo its biggest makeover yet.
Scheduled to release soon in the U.S. are two New Balance 204L styles decked out in bold cow-print patterns. Each colorway uses a faux pony hair upper combined with matching mesh and will be released in black/white and brown/white combinations.
The two new styles also incorporate the ruffled edges seen on the 204L’s upcoming “Ribbon Pack,” adding scalloped details to the low-profile look. Despite having already received neon and metallic-accented colorways, the upcoming cow print styles are the most eye-catching iterations of the popular model yet.

The New Balance 204L was introduced in July 2025 and has received collaborations with Basketcase and Kith along with popular in-line styles. The new design looks to archive New Balance sneakers including the slim structure of 1970s running shoes for its overall build and the overlay-heavy cues of the 2000s for its upper.
Not only is the sneaker’s look on-trend, but its relatively affordable price point of $120 has been a factor in its popularity. With its sleek structure and typically earthy tones, the model is comparable to Miu Miu’s coveted 530 collaborations, which retail for more than tenfold the 204L at $1,250.

In related news, New Balance will launch the 204L Ribbon Pack on March 1 along with a restock of the model’s debut Mushroom/Arid Stone colorway.
Earlier this month, the Boston-based sportswear company reported annual global sales of $9.2 billion for 2025.
This cow print-patterned pack of New Balance 204Ls has already arrived from select global retailers including Dubai’s Level Shoes, with a stateside release expected soon. Despite the elevated materials, both pairs will retail for the 204L’s standard pricing of $120. The black colorway’s style code is U204L3Z7, while the brown is U204L8JF.
