Jessie Buckley and ‘The Bride’ Team Go Goth in London

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Penélope Cruz and Jessie Buckley made their first of several press tour stops on Wednesday in London for the photo call of their forthcoming film “The Bride!”

The two actresses and filmmaker previewed the Goth-inspired style they’ll sport over the course of the next several weeks, featuring designs by Jacquemus and Diotima. WWD breaks down those method-dressing looks ahead.

“The Bride!” director Maggie Gyllenhaal led the way with her Gothic look — a long-sleeve dress with a form-fitting silhouette. The dress was crafted with such details as sheer sleeves, draped fabric at the neckline and fringe detailing at the hips. Gyllenhaal continued the black color palette motif with pointed-toe heels and accessorized with sunglasses.

Penélope Cruz opted for a customized look straight from the runway. The Oscar-winning “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” actress wore a design from Jacquemusfall 2026 ready-to-wear collection, which debuted as part of Paris Fashion Week in January. The long-sleeve black dress featured a scoop neckline with an exaggerated fringe-y skirt, crafted with voluminous bands of fabric.

Jessie Buckley went dark with her Diotima look. The “Hamnet” star’s dress, featured as part of the label’s fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection, designed with a form-fitting, mermaid silhouette skirt with an avant-garde print. The bodice included details like long sleeves, a scoop neckline, ruffles at the shoulders and a feathery element at the waist. Buckley’s look was curated by stylist Danielle Goldberg.

Set in 1930s Chicago, “The Bride!” follows Frankenstein, played by Christian Bale, who helps create his Bride, played by Jessie Buckley, sparking police intrigue and unrest in the city. The film, written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and loosely based on “Bride of Frankenstein,” hits theaters March 6.
