Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has released a promotional video for the upcoming film Kennedy, in which he is seen on a call with a figure resembling former US President Donald Trump. The quirky video centers on Kashyap requesting help for the theatrical release of his film, while making a subtle reference to Trump-related content being removed from the movie.
Kashyap’s character interacts with the Trump lookalike, setting a lighthearted tone. This approach highlights the changes made to Kennedy, specifically the omission of references to Trump. The playful banter between Kashyap and the Trump impersonator creates an amusing dynamic, making the promotional material memorable. The Trump-like figure’s exaggerated mannerisms and distinctive speech style add to the comedic effect, ensuring the video stands out among typical film promotions.

He references Trump ‘bade papa’ in the video, then calls him up to request his intervention for the film’s theatrical release, despite having waited for two years. Towards the end, the impersonator then asked Kashyap to hold a special screening of the film at the White House, and he instantly agreed.
The focus remains on Kashyap’s creative strategy for promoting Kennedy amid these circumstances. By keeping the specifics vague, the video invites speculation and discussion among fans and industry watchers, fuelling anticipation for the film’s release and encouraging viewers to look for subtle clues within the promotional content.
Several fans reacted to the promotional video while praising the team for their creativity. One of the fans wrote, “Too good, mind-boggling nobody would thought like this,” while another wrote, “Smart marketing.” A third user chimed in and said, “This is gold!!!”
The film, which stars Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, has already garnered attention at international film festivals, including Cannes in 2023 and the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. It was available for Indian audiences on Zee5 on February 20.
The film has been granted an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film had to undergo several edits, including the expletive ‘motherf***’ being muted in both the dialogues and subtitles. References to Donald Trump were altered to ‘Pump Trump’, while visuals of Dawood Ibrahim, along with the line “Dawood Ibrahim ne 1993 mein” were removed and replaced with the term ‘Pakistan Don’.
The story of the film centres on Uday Shetty, a former police officer presumed dead. Under the alias Kennedy, he operates as a hitman in a fractured and corrupt system. The character grapples with insomnia, addiction, and personal turmoil, exploring themes of psychological struggle, violence, and a desperate search for redemption.
