Anne Burrell allegedly did not show “any signs” that she was struggling with suicidal thoughts before her shocking death in June.
“[She] has never attempted suicide in the past and has never talked about it,” the celebrity chef’s husband, Stuart Claxton, told the New York Police Department in a new report obtained by People.
According to the report, Claxton also claimed that Burrell did not show “any signs that she would do something like this” that he witnessed, nor did she have any “medical conditions.”
Authorities also confirmed in the report that Burrell left a “suicidal note” — dated June 17, 2025, the same day as her death — as well as “suicidal” journals in the main bedroom of her Brooklyn, NY, home.
Despite Claxton’s name being redacted, the report referred to him as an individual “married to Anne.” The two tied the knot in Cazenovia, NY, in 2001 and were together up until Burrell’s untimely death.
Page Six has reached out to Claxton and a rep for Burrell for comment.
As previously reported, Claxton found his wife’s unconscious body on their shower floor last June. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and pronounced her dead. She was 55.
Days after her death, sources exclusively told The Post that the Food Network star was surrounded by dozens of pills when Claxton discovered her.
A month later, the New York City medical examiner’s office confirmed Burrell had died by suicide, with her death specified as “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine.”
At the time, Burrell’s loved ones spoke out with recent memories they had shared with the culinary guru.
Fellow chef Shirley Chung revealed that she and the “Worst Cooks in America” star had texted the week prior about “eating tacos and knitting blankets” and planned to “celebrate [their] new life.”
In another tribute, Burrell’s close friend Rachael Ray wrote that she was left “shaken” by her death and “couldn’t quite believe it” because Burrell was a “strong, vibrant, fearless woman, so full of life and love.”
Page Six reported that a “happy” Burrell spent her last night at an improv show.
At the time, insiders told People that she appeared to be “in great spirits” and in her “typical fun, outgoing Anne” mood.
However, a close pal of the TV host exclusively told Page Six that underneath her “big personality,” Burrell secretly “struggled.”
“I know she kind of struggled — once she was on TV and was on her way to be a TV celebrity chef,” the friend told us. “She was famous, she was doing the food and wine circuit stuff. She was busy — I kind of felt like she wasn’t totally happy. People with big personalities sometimes mask things.”
“She had, like the rest of us, demons,” they added. “She didn’t let me in too much. [As a TV star], you have so many high moments. In private, you’re going to have a letdown.”
