Was Nancy Guthrie worried about her safety in the past?
Nancy Guthrie lived in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood for decades and appeared to have developed a friendly connection with her neighbors through Nextdoor. According to The Irish Star, her posts mostly focused on ordinary concerns such as gardening, wildlife sightings, and neighborhood interactions, rather than on crime. For instance, in one of her final posts on December 28, 2025, she asked if anyone had mistakenly taken an Amazon package delivered to her home. The question showcased a routine neighborhood communication rather than any immediate concern about her safety.
However, Nancy had occasionally acknowledged minor security issues in the area. In one earlier post, she warned the people in her neighborhood and wrote, “Male thieves. A package was stolen from the front door yesterday. Please alert. The US post office has delivered.” Apart from this, she had made a rare post about asking her neighbors for recommendations for doorbell cameras, not specifically for crime prevention, but to observe wildlife activity at night. Ironically, her doorbell camera helped the FBI see a masked person outside her home the night she had disappeared. In her words:
“I’m thinking about buying a Ring or Nest security/doorbell camera? Any suggestions? Interested in seeing animal activity at night.”
How long can it take to find Nancy Guthrie?
The search for Nancy Guthrie has extended far beyond her neighborhood. But the authorities have also addressed the uncertainty surrounding how long it could take to find her. According to The New York Times, Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos admitted that there is no clear timeline in the case. They can take an hour to years to find the 84-year-old. It has not been easy, but they are committed to finding her. Sharing his views, he said:
“Maybe it’s an hour from now, maybe it’s weeks or months or years from now. It’s exhausting, these ups and downs. But we will keep moving forward.”

She is a respected Bible teacher, author, and speaker who devoted much of her life to helping others cope with grief and loss.
