Things to Do Around Berlin for Art Lovers

    1 Hour to Spare
    Pierre Huyghe, Berghain
    Am Wriezener bhf, 10243 Berlin
Located inside legendary Berlin nightclub Halle am Berghain, LAS Art Foundation presents Pierre Huyghe’s Liminals, a large-scale, sensory installation that turns quantum systems into image and sound. Film, vibration, sound and light converge around a faceless, humanlike figure moving through shifting states of existence. Huyghe consulted both a physicist and a philosopher in the making  Liminals using experimental methods to create a dense sonic experience. It is among Berlin’s most intellectually charged and visually arresting art experiences of the season.

    1 Hour to Spare
    Shepard Fairey, Fotografiska
    Oranienburger Str. 54, 10117 Berlin
Photo Synthesis traces the evolution of one of street art’s most influential voices through more than 200 works spanning wheat-paste origins to monumental murals. Known for era-defining portraits of figures from John Lennon to Barack Obama, Fairey reveals how photography underpins his graphic language across screen print, collage and new commissions created for the show. On view through March 8, the exhibition reframes activism, image-making and visual culture within Berlin’s ever-shifting urban landscape where it feels perfectly at home.

    1 Hour to Spare
    David Lynch at Pace Gallery
Die Tankstelle, Bülowstraße 18, 10783 Berlin
A presentation of David Lynch’s visual art — some it never seen before — brings the late filmmaker’s singular imagination into sharp focus across paintings, sculptures, watercolors, photographs and early short films. On view through March 29, the exhibition traces Lynch’s lifelong dialogue between material experimentation and subconscious imagery, including a series of photographs taken in Berlin in 1999. The show precedes a major exhibition of Lynch’s work slated for fall 2026 at Pace’s gallery in Los Angeles.

    3 Hours to Spare
    Humboldt Forum
    Schlossplatz, 10178 Berlin
Rising within the reconstructed baroque Berlin Palace, and directly opposite Museum Island, the Humboldt Forum reimagines a historic landmark as a global cultural stage. Not your typical museum, this is a collection of multiple entities under one roof. Galleries devoted to world cultures, rotating contemporary exhibitions and sweeping public terraces overlooking the Spree position the institution as both museum and gathering place. Most striking are the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art presented on the second and third floors.

    5 Hours to Spare
    Museum Island
    Bodestraße 1-3, 10178 Berlin
In the heart of Berlin, Museum Island unfolds as a grand cultural ensemble where five world-class institutions trace the arc of human creativity from antiquity to the 19th century. Celebrating 200 years of history and set along the Spree, crowned by the soaring dome of the Berlin Cathedral, the UNESCO World Heritage site invites visitors to wander between four of the world’s best museums: Neues, Alte Nationalgalerie, Altes and Bode. Pergamon is closed until 2027. Museum Island is home to the world-famous bust of Nefertiti in the Neues Museum.
