The manhunt for 84-year-old ‘vulnerable adult’, Nancy Guthrie, is soon to be entering its third week, and the officials still have no leads about where she could potentially be. Nancy, the mother of popular NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie, was taken from her Arizona home against her will between January 31 and February 1, 2026. With a fruitless manhunt to bring her home, officials and outlets have been receiving ransom notes claiming to have information about Nancy. On the 13th day of the search, TMZ received a third email from the alleged informer.
What’s in the new email?
On February 13, 2026 (ET), TMZ received yet another email from an anonymous sender who claims to know the alleged abductor. This time, however, the sender has upped their previous price demand. The outlet reported that the alleged informer now wants his fee increased from 1 Bitcoin to USD 100,000. The sender says he doesn’t trust law enforcement and hence uses them as an intermediary. The sender allegedly wrote:
“You don’t trust me, and I don’t trust you.”
The email further stated that the increased demand for a reward was because the FBI’s decision to double its reward from USD 50,000 to USD 100,000 was an attempt “to discredit” him. Now, the sender’s demand is to pay USD 50,000 in Bitcoin upfront, with the rest due after the information is revealed.
Could there be multiple abductors?
Although all the information is still unverified, the new email has allegedly hinted at the involvement of multiple individuals in Nancy Guthrie’s abduction. The sender claimed that once the first payment is made, he will disclose “the name of the main individual” responsible. He allegedly will not even withdraw the initial amount until the alleged kidnapper is arrested. The mention of the main individual has now sparked fresh speculations among Nancy’s well-wishers and everyone concerned.

Investigators have recovered DNA from Nancy’s property that does not match her or anyone in close contact, including immediate family members. The sample is now being tested at a private lab in Florida. While the Guthrie family has not been formally cleared, authorities remain focused on the masked, armed suspect seen in doorbell footage. Online speculation has centred on Nancy’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, and his former bandmate, Dominic Evans.
The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have received an overflow of tips about the potential suspect, especially after the release of Nest camera footage from Nancy Guthrie’s front door. Many social media users are convinced that the masked individual in the footage resembles Tommaso Cioni, citing similarities in build and facial hair. Others have pointed to Tommaso’s friend and former bandmate, Dominic Evans, noting that he has a tattoo on his arm near his wrist, which allegedly could be seen peeking through the masked individual’s jacket sleeves. Several users who allegedly visited Dominic and Tommaso’s band, Early Black, claimed to have spotted an inked mark on the former’s wrist.
