Why Did Louie From ’The Pitt’ Look So Familiar? Well, He Once Worked for George Jefferson

In The Pitt Season 2 Episode 6, “12:00 P.M.,” viewers had to say goodbye to fan favorite character Louie Cloverfield, played brilliantly by Ernest Harden Jr. A beloved frequent flier patient on the Max series, Louie was portrayed as a chronic alcoholic with multiple health issues, but he remained defined by his optimism, outgoing nature, and familiar presence in the emergency room until he died of a pulmonary hemorrhage caused by liver failure.

Fans of classic television might recognize Louie, even if they cannot immediately place the actor. Harden has been a familiar face on television and in films for more than 50 years, building a wide-ranging career that spans sitcoms, primetime dramas, and major Hollywood movies.
