Hudson Williams, Yerin Ha, Eva Chen Celebrate Lunar New Year With Gold House

It’s not just the year of the horse; cottages are also having a major moment.

On Thursday night, Gold House hosted its Lunar New Year party at downtown restaurant Chinese Tuxedo. Even early in the evening, the crowd was abuzz in anticipation of just a glimpse of the two megastar hosts from “Heated Rivalry” and “Bridgerton,” Hudson Williams and Yerin Ha.

Droves of the who’s who across Asian media, entertainment and fashion all descended on the evening to celebrate the New Year. Designers Prabal Gurung, Bach Mai and Kim Shui cohosted the evening alongside Meta’s Eva Chen — with Phillip Lim, Dao-Yi Chow, Lola Tung, Bowen Yang, Avantika, Sean Kaufman, Padma Lakshmi, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Andrew Kwon, Jessel Taank, Joseph Altuzarra, Suni Lee and more in attendance.

Williams’ date for the night was his mother and he was later reunited with his “Heated Rivalry” castmate Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova.

Guests sipped on bespoke Hennessy cocktails and snacked on bites from the contemporary Chinese restaurant; a Bridgerton-themed portrait with a Tatcha beauty station for touch-ups, karaoke and mahjong games was held at the venue’s downstairs Opera House bar.

The endlessly charming Ha is in town and busy promoting the fourth season of Netflix’s “Bridgerton” as its newest romantic lead, Sophie Baek. Coinciding with New York Fashion Week, she attended Rachel Scott’s debut show at Proenza Schouler and was seated front row next to director Celine Song.

“This is my first New York Fashion Week,” she told WWD. “I’m loving it! I was only able to squeeze in one show [Proenza Schouler], which was so beautiful and stunning. [Scott’s] structures and silhouettes on women are so beautiful.”

For the evening’s fete, the Korean-Australian actress wore a red pleated silk dress from Gurung’s fall 2026 collection. Working with stylist Holly White, Ha has worn a lot of Jason Wu throughout her press tour.

“[White] knows I’m very keen to wear different Asian designers — she’s the one who sources the looks but she knows where my heart lies,” Ha said. “I’m trying out so many different things and it’s my first time navigating this. I’m figuring out what my style is but I’m having fun with it. What I like, what I don’t like. I feel like that’s what fashion should be about: experimentation, expression and there’s no right or wrong.”

Her favorite costume from the show is the Bridgerton blue dress worn by the character Daphne Basset that she borrowed at Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) cottage — which is her favorite color and was the first costume worn while shooting the TV series. “It’s the simplicity of the dress. But when it’s cut so well to your body, it can really make it sing,” she said.

Lunar New Year for Ha is all about family and staying humble. “My family is all the people who remind me of where I came from,” she said. “Spending time with them always reminds me of my roots and why I started [acting] in the first place; it’s always a good time for reflection.”

Recently finishing her fellow Korean cohosts’ hit romance show, what stuck out to Ha while watching “Heated Rivalry” and what makes it “so great” is seeing relatively unknown actors gain widespread recognition and acclaim.

“Even the side plots [of Scott Hunter (Francois Arnaud) and Kip Grady (Robbie G.K.)] were so strong. I didn’t know any of the actors beforehand and I think that just shows all the hidden talent that’s still yet to be discovered,” she said. “Shane and Ilya’s relationship was just so beautiful and how it all tied together. The queer representation was so lovely to see.”

Williams wore a custom baby blue wool crepe suit with a silk back satin tank top and matching tie by Prabal Gurung. Throughout the evening, he took off his jacket, flexed his muscles and danced along with Tung, Ha and his mother to Madonna and Lady Gaga with heart-shaped glow sticks.

Sticking around to party in Chinatown until the early hours of the morning, Ha and Williams took selfies, shared sunglasses and wore cowboy hats to celebrate the Canadian actor’s 25th birthday.
