Kate Middleton Suits Up for Latest Royal Outing

Kate Middleton gave her signature suit styling a casual twist while visiting children at Castle Hill Academy in Croydon, England, on Thursday.

The Princess of Wales forewent power suiting for a more approachable style, wearing Petar Petrov wool-bend blazer in a chocolatey shade of brown, which coordinated with her high-waisted trousers by contemporary British brand Joseph.

Middleton continued to spotlight British brands with her latest look, adding a pop of contrasting color with a blue button-down courtesy of British heritage brand WNU. As for footwear, the British royal family member wore  Boden’s Nya penny loafer.

Accessories for the Princess of Wales’ daytime attire included blue topaz earrings from Kiki McDonough and a necklace by Auree Jewellery. Earthy tones, in particular shades of brown, have been a trend Middleton has incorporated into her royal wardrobe as of late.

Over the last few weeks, Middleton has worn designs by Edeline Lee, Holland Cooper and other United Kingdom-based brands, channeling an earthy quality in her midwinter color palette. Her latest look, while on trend with some of her recent style choices, took a pared-back approach to royal power suiting.

Ordinarily, Middleton wears suits styled by Burberry, Roland Mouret and McQueen, among other designers, for her daytime outings and royal engagements. But being amongst school children on Thursday, the British royal may have favored more approachable, active attire.

Middleton’s visit to Castle Hill Academy in New Addington, Croydon, coincided with Children’s Mental Health Week. The Princess of Wales has made childhood development a cornerstone of her work as a member of the British royal family and serves as a Patron of Place2Be, a U.K.-based children’s mental health charity.
