Life Without Buildings Announce First Show in 24 Years

Twenty-four years after Life Without Buildings called it quits, the art rockers will reunite for the 50th anniversary of Rough Trade’s London store. The show takes place November 20 at the London venue KOKO.

“cat’s oot the bag then!,” wrote Robert Dallas Gray on BlueSky, confirming the reunion set. The guitarist added the Glaswegian quartet “decided the 50th anniversary of Rough Trade was an appropriate time to get back together … been a strange ride remembering the songs!” He also promised there will be “at least” one warm-up show, likely in Glasgow, with “possibly more” to come.

Formed in 1999 by fellow Glasgow School of Art students Gray, Will Bradley, and Chris Evans, Life Without Buildings began as an all-instrumental outfit before recruiting vocalist Sue Tompkins to join. The band released its lone studio album, 2001’s Any Other City, on Rough Trade Records, and broke up a year later. In October, the members announced an official release of their final song, “Love Trinity.”
