Jennifer Lawrence’s barely-there Golden Globes 2026 dress draws Beyoncé comparisons: ‘Here to slay!’

Jennifer Lawrence was certainly “Flawless” on the Golden Globes 2026 red carpet.

The “Die My Love” star shocked as she arrived to the awards show in a totally sheer Givenchy dress that was embroidered along her chest and torso, and then again down the hem. It was just enough embellishment to avoid a wardrobe malfunction while also leaving little to the imagination.

She posed at times with a matching bomber jacket, slung casually across her elbows rather than her shoulders.

The look quickly drew comparisons to another Givenchy gown, this one worn by Beyoncé 11 years ago.

Queen Bey’s 2015 Met Gala look, designed by then-creative director Riccardo Tisci, featured a similarly striking swath of visible skin with crystal embellishments over her chest, hips and hem.

The singer styled her blinged-out look — which followed the year’s “China: Through the Looking Glass” theme — with a blond ponytail hiked at the very crown of her head.

The third successor to Tisci, it’s Sarah Burton that sits at the helm of Givenchy today — though she may have taken inspiration from one of her own past looks from the same era.

During her tenure as the creative director of Alexander McQueen, the designer showed a floral-embellished gown as part of the fall/winter 2016 collection that looked strikingly similar to Lawrence’s 2026 update, as first noted by Up Next Designer.

The decade-old design also featured sheer mesh, vine-ripe roses, and even a satin jacket on top.

Social media users were quick to link Lawrence and Beyoncé — though not all approved.

“This is the remake of Beyoncé’s dress by Ricardo Tisci at the Met Gala,” one person commented on Check the Tag’s Instagram page. “It just doesn’t seem very original….,” said another while a third remarked, “This is a throw back lol. Shed [sic] a little late to the trend but it’s cool bc she never does this! (Lookin at you JLo!).”

Tons of others remarked on the major departure from Lawrence’s typically more understated red carpet protocol. One commented on her awards season kick off, writing, “A nice way to tell people she’s back in the game and here to slay! 👏🏻”

“WOW this is shocking in a good way? I think? I love it 😍 so different from anyyyything I’ve ever seen her wear 🔥,” said a second.

Lawrence is entering a new fashion era as she has also tapped a new stylist, Ryan Hastings. givenchy/Instagram

And there could be good reason for the sudden shift; After years working with stylist Jamie Mizrahi, Lawrence made a change mid-press tour for her film “Die My Love” in the fall, now working with Ryan Hastings.

Lawrence’s first public appearance under the styling expertise of Hastings was at the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards, wearing a full black skirt and T shirt from The Row — accessorized with a massive diamond Belperron brooch.

The actress has mostly kept things sleek and monochromatic in black the past few months until her shocking floral moment. We can’t wait to see what she has in store for the rest of 2026.
