Peacock’s The ‘Burbs is a new dark comedy based on the 1989 cult film by Joe Dante starring Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher. This time around, Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall are in the position of the new-to-the-neighborhood couple who discover that their suburban paradise is filled with a lot more than friendly faces and perfectly trimmed hedges.

The official logline from Peacock is: “Set in present-day suburbia, Peacock’s The ‘Burbs follows a young couple who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when a new neighbor moves in across the street, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”

Keke Palmer stars as Samira while Jack Whitehall plays husband Rob. Julia Duffy stars as Lynn, Paula Pell is Dana, Mark Proksch is Tod, and Kapil Talwalkar is Naveen.
Guest stars include Kyrie Mcalpin as Rory and Justin Kirk as Gary.
Who is behind the making of The ‘Burbs?
The ‘Burbs comes from Imagine Entertainment and Fuzzy Door, with executive producers Brian Grazer (Empire, Arrested Development), Kristen Zolner, and Natalie Berkus, as well as Seth MacFarlane (Ted), Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson.
The series is created, written, and executive produced by Celeste Hughey. Writer Rachel Shukert is also an executive producer with Palmer. Dana Olsen, original writer of the 1989 film, is a co-executive producer with Amy Aniobi, Zora Bikangaga, and Neil Reynolds. Nzingha Stewart directs the first episode and serves as an executive producer.
Is there a trailer?
There is indeed. Peacock released the official teaser featuring Palmer’s Samira as she becomes fascinated with the abandoned house across the street, thus starting her amateur mystery adventure about the history of the decrepit manor.
