Kristen Stewart Puts a Thom Browne Twist on Schoolgirl Gothic at the WWD Style Awards

Kristen Stewart arrived at the 2026 WWD Style Awards wearing a black and white look courtesy of Thom Browne on Friday night in Los Angeles.

“The Chronology of Water” director continued her black and white styling streak from Thursday night, when she wore a Chanel look in the classic color scheme. For Friday night’s Style Awards, Stewart wore a custom Thom Browne look with a crisp white collared shirt and exposed cuffs, worn beneath a black, suit jacket-inspired ensemble with a coordinated, pleated black miniskirt.

The look was matched with Thom Browne’s signature stripes, featured in black and white and matched with a pair of black lace-up shoes. Tara Swennen serves as the stylist for Stewart’s red carpet and promotional looks.

The film actress and director stepped out for the annual event, held at the Regent Santa Monica Beach, ahead of the Golden Globe Awards, to honor her longtime friend, Adir Abergel, as Red Carpet Hair Stylist of the Year.

Thanks to Abergel, Stewart’s beauty aesthetic has evolved from her early “Twilight” days, when her hair was a chocolate brown helmut of layered waves. Now her style is more gothic than glamor, featuring punky ponytails, choppy micro bangs and an undercut. Only a few times has Stewart strayed from this look, and her jet-black coloring, in the years since she made the change. However, at the 2019 Met Gala, Abergel gave Stewart a pixie cut and pink ends.

As part of Golden Week, the WWD Style Awards honor the creative forces defining red carpet style across fashion, beauty and accessories. This year’s event honor edGiorgio Armani with the Red Carpet Visionary Award, accepted by George Clooney on behalf of the late designer. Other honorees included Demi Moore, Pamela Anderson, Hailey Bieber and Kourtney Kardashian Barker. The VIP event was presented by Amazon Beauty, Donna Karan New York, and IHG Hotels & Resorts.
