Gwyneth Paltrow went for a laid-back, head-to-toe Proenza Schouler look to attend the 2026 AFI Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Friday. The “Marty Supreme” star styled her feet with a pair of contemporary thong leather sandals from the designer.

Paltrow opted for the Tee Asymmetric Thong Sandals in a slick black nappa leather from the spring 2026 collection. The sandals feature a minimalist T-strap silhouette with a slanted thong strap that leans toward the outer part of her foot.
The shoe features a short kitten heel measuring around three inches. The open toe design features an ankle strap with a side buckle closure and a slightly oversized sole. The thong style stood out thanks to Paltrow’s winter-ready dark burgundy pedicure.

The asymmetric thong sandal made its debut on the runway in September as part of the spring 2026 collection, but it is not currently available on the brand’s website. A similar style, the Tee Thong Sandals in Slick Nappa, can be purchased for $790.
The “Shallow Hal” star paired her sandals with an understated black and white Proenza Schouler look. She was outfitted in the designer’s Roberts Knit Tank in white matte, and the Cella Skirt also in black and white. The high-waist skirt featured a white ruffled detail at the hip that added contrast.

The detail led to an opening on the leg that allowed the shoes to peek through while she posed on the red carpet. Paltrow seems to be a fan of the brand, and recently wore a pair of Proenza Schouler‘s slingback pumps while filming a commercial for 51 Park in uptown Manhattan in September.
The 2026 AFI Awards celebrated the preceding year’s best in film and TV with a private luncheon held at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills in Los Angeles on Friday. Awards season favorites like “One Battle After Another,” “Hamnet” and “Sinners” were among the films celebrated during the proceedings, while TV series like “Andor,” “The Pitt,” and “Adolescence” were recognized. High-profile attendees included Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Coogler and Chase Infiniti, among others.
