A high-speed Audi car crashed into pedestrians and roadside stalls in Jaipur on Friday night, killing one person and injuring at least 14 other.
The accident occurred around 9.30 pm near Kharabas Circle in the Journalist Colony area. The Audi, bearing a Daman and Diu registration number, hit a road divider before going out of control and ploughing into several roadside carts, triggering panic in the busy neighbourhood.
Local residents rushed to help the injured and alerted emergency services. The victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Eight injured persons are undergoing treatment at Jaipuria Hospital, while four others have been admitted to private hospitals. Some of the injured were also taken to SMS Hospital.
Police said three people were travelling in the Audi at the time of the crash. Two of them have been detained for questioning. All occupants of the vehicle are residents of Jaipur.
The damaged car has been seized, and police are examining CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts to determine the exact cause of the accident. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation
