Nobis Celebrating 20th Anniversary With Expanded Offering

This is shaping up to be a big year for Nobis.

The Toronto-based outerwear brand is celebrating its 20th anniversary and will be expanding its reach beyond its signature premium performance coats to a wider range of year-round products.

“We’ve been looking to reenvision the direction of Nobis and prioritize our category development as well as our focus on womenswear,” said David Archer, vice president of marketing. “We added some new talent and we asked them to take the ethos of Nobis, which has always been that merger of fashion and function, and redefine that for the next 20 years. So while we created a really strong parka that was windproof, waterproof, breathable, had a snow skirt, had down inside — all the things you need for extreme Arctic conditions — our customer wants more Nobis products in their closet.”

So for the fall ’26 season, the company has added more than 30 new silhouettes that include topcoats, capes, sweaters and mid-layers in fabrics ranging from corduroy to wool.

The collection is called Homeward Bound and is inspired by the company’s Canadian heritage and its spirit of exploration. It will feature updated versions of its core foundational products as well as a new fashion capsule that will encompass 15 men’s and 15 women’s styles.

The new focus centers around its Technical Apparel Systems, a modular approach where garments are designed to stand alone or be layered to meet various climates and conditions. Key pieces include the Myles men’s puffer, a corduroy coat with down insulation; a long belted wool Kelly women’s coat with a brushed exterior and sateen lining; the Adelaide women’s puffer in corduroy, and an Eton men’s wool-cashmere jacket, a mid-weight, waist-length style in recycled cashmere wool and insulated with Primaloft.

The brand’s foundational styles are also being updated and will include the Yates men’s parka in a crosshatch fabric with membrane lamination and sealed seams and filled with RDS 700 fill-power duck down; the Duke men’s parka, which is made from twill fabric and down filled, and the Mirabel and Adora women’s parkas, which have also been updated to feature a more-contemporary silhouette.

There are also brushed fleece sweaters and hoodies and lightweight jackets that feature a new technology called XReflex that helps retain heat without adding weight.

“With this collection, we were able to modernize iconic styles that Nobis has become known for, and complement those updates with fashion-forward designs that speak to the outerwear needs of today,” said Robin Yates, Nobis’ cofounder.

When the collection debuts in September, Nobis plans to support the launch and its anniversary with a series of partnerships in New York and Canada.

Nobis was founded in 2007 and was named the outerwear brand of the year in 2024 at the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards.
