Pune cylinder blast: 10 workers injured in hotel explosion near Daund

A powerful LPG cylinder explosion at a hotel near Daund town in Pune district left ten workers seriously injured on Wednesday, with five of them battling for life.

“An LPG cylinder exploded in the hotel kitchen around 12.30 pm,” a police officer said. “Five of the ten injured workers were inside the kitchen when the blast occurred.”

The explosion took place near Daund, triggering panic in the surrounding area. All the injured workers were rushed to hospitals, with five shifted to Sassoon General Hospital in critical condition.

“All the injured workers are migrants,” the officer said, adding that the force of the blast caused extensive damage to the kitchen area. “The exact cause of the explosion is not known. We have registered a case and the matter is under investigation.”

Preliminary information suggests that around 10 to 11 LPG cylinders were stored in the kitchen at the time of the explosion. Officials said there were no customers inside the hotel when the blast occurred.
