Maulana Tauqeer Raza’s son held with drugs after car hits bus in UP

The son of jailed Bareilly cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza has been arrested by Uttar Pradesh police under the NDPS Act after allegedly recovering white crystal smack from his possession. However, since the seized quantity was less than two grams, he was granted bail from the police station itself.

The accused, identified as Farman Raza Khan, was involved in a road accident late on Tuesday evening near the Sitapur depot bus parked on National Highway 24 in Tilhar police station area of Shajahanpur. Police said Farman’s car rammed into the stationary bus from behind with such force that both airbags opened.

Farman sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital by the police for primary treatment. During questioning, officers suspected that he was under the influence of narcotics. A search conducted in the presence of senior officials allegedly led to the recovery of a small polythene packet containing white powder and a syringe from his bag.

During interrogation, Farman allegedly told the police that the substance was white crystal smack, which he had purchased from a person named Abhay in Delhi. He claimed to have bought one gram of the drug, out of which he had already consumed half a gram using a syringe, leaving only around half a gram.

Following the recovery, Tilhar police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the NDPS Act against Farman Raza Khan and the alleged drug supplier Abhay. While Farman was formally arrested, he was later released on bail.
