    The Mark Hotel Celebrates 100 Years With New Book


    The Mark Hotel is commemorating its 100th anniversary with the release of a new Assouline book authored by New York Times bestselling writer Derek Blasberg. The publication offers an inside look at one of New York’s most notable hotels, exploring its century-long legacy on the Upper East Side and its influence on fashion, culture and hospitality.

    First opened in 1926, The Mark has evolved from a neighborhood landmark into an international destination known for its discreet service, world-class dining and role at the center of New York’s social scene. The property became especially renowned after its 2005 redesign by French interior designer Jacques Grange, who modernized the hotel’s interiors while maintaining the building’s original character.

    “The Mark is a creative ecosystem shaped by design, culture and the people who pass through it. The making of the Assouline book reflects 20 years of that evolution, capturing the moments, personalities and point of view that have made The Mark an institution in the global hospitality and style conversations,” said Izak Senbahar, co-owner of the property. “At its core, the book is a love story.”

    Grange enlisted artists and designers including Karl Lagerfeld, Guy de Rougemont, Paul Mathieu and Mattia Bonetti to contribute custom furnishings and installations. The result is a blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design that defines the hotel’s distinct identity.

    Over the years, The Mark has become nearly synonymous with the Met Gala, serving as the unofficial starting point for the event. From its record-setting penthouse suite, the largest in North America, to curated experiences such as private yacht charters and custom pedicabs, the hotel continues to attract high-profile guests seeking privacy and style.

    The Mark’s range of amenities reinforces its cultural cachet. The property houses Frédéric Fekkai’s flagship salon, Caviar Kaspia at The Mark, The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges and an Assouline boutique, each contributing to its reputation as a mainstay of uptown life.
