Nike’s premium black leather spin on the remastered Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble first appeared in November and now, the luxe style is almost ready to be released.
Officially confirmed for a Snkrs launch just after Christmas, the upcoming Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble Black Leather is one of the most elevated spins the sneaker has seen since the April debut of the reworked version. As its name suggests, the entire shoe is built with a smooth black leather, replacing the signature synthetic suede usually found on the mid-1990s model. It’s a look that’s so understated, it could be worn in a dress shoe scenario thanks to its tonal black look and slick leather construction.
While this all-black leather look is a new one for the Air Max 95, Nike has been faithful to the classic running shoe’s original colorways, issuing several fan-favorites throughout the year. Notable pairs include the Blue Spark, Bright Mandarin, Neon and Pink Foam. The remastered version of the sneaker has also seen several high-profile collaborations with the likes of Levi’s and Undefeated.

The Air Max 95 has long been a fixture of Nike Sportswear’s retro offerings, but this year’s 30th anniversary release received special attention to detail. The shoe was reworked to have a better, more comfortable fit as well as larger, more pronounced visible Air units, particularly in the heel area. It’s an overhaul that has been unanimously praised throughout the industry.
“Even though some people say the big bubble isn’t that noticeable, it actually makes a huge difference when wearing, both visibly and physically,” Kith founder Ronnie Fieg wrote on X in April.
The Black Leather colorway’s premium build will come at a higher price tag than typical Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble styles, which usually retail for $190. The Black Leather version is priced at $210 and has a style code of IM0696-001. It’s already available from some overseas retailers, but stateside fans can expect a drop from Snkrs on Dec. 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
