Was Messi gifted a 10 cr limited-edition watch Anant Ambani during Vantara visit?

The final leg of Lionel Messi’s much-talked-about GOAT tour of India concluded with a visit to Vantara, the wildlife conservation and rehabilitation centre founded by Anant Ambani.

During his visit, Messi was seen paying respect to traditional Indian customs and seeking blessings in accordance with Sanatana Dharma, which emphasises reverence for nature and respect for all living beings. Images and videos of the Argentine legend engaging with caretakers and observing wildlife quickly went viral.

However, what truly caught social media’s attention was the watch Messi was spotted wearing during the visit.

Several users on X, led by popular account AlbicelesteTalk, which closely follows the Argentine national team and Messi, claimed that the football icon was gifted an ultra-rare Richard Mille RM 003 V2 “Asia Edition” by Anant Ambani. According to the post, the watch is among Richard Mille’s earlier models and is estimated to be worth around 9.97 crore, or approximately USD 1 million, in the current market.

While there has been no official confirmation regarding the claim, the speculation gained traction due to Anant Ambani’s known fondness for luxury timepieces. During his wedding to Radhika Merchant in July 2024, he had reportedly gifted Audemars Piguet watches valued at around 2 crore each to several high-profile guests.

    Messi’s visit to Vantara

Messi was accompanied by his Inter Miami teammates, Luis Suarez and Rodrigo De Paul, during the Vantara visit. According to PTI, the trio toured the facility, observing animals such as tigers, elephants and lions, while interacting with conservation teams and staff working at the centre.

Another report by Curly Tales suggested that one of the lion cubs at the facility was named ‘Lionel’ in honour of the Argentine great.

Messi later shared a video montage from his India tour on social media, featuring moments from across the country. He also conveyed a message to Indian football fans, expressing hope that the sport continues to grow and improve in the country.

His India tour included visits to Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi, before concluding at Vantara — a fitting end to a journey that gave Indian football fans a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
