You heard it here first (just kidding): Mr. and Mrs. Hailee Steinfeld are expecting their first child, having announced the headline-generating news in a joint Instagram post (and Steinfeld’s Beau Society newsletter) three days ago. While it was easy to get lost in all the celebrity comments that flooded the married couple (Gigi Hadid’s, Millie Bobby Brown’s, and Hailey Bieber’s among them), not to mention completely overtaken by the emotions evoked by their charming, vintage-inspired video montage, us shopping editors immediately zeroed in on one key detail: the fleece jacket Steinfeld was sporting as she showed off her bump. Straight from the buzzy Mother brand, The Reversible Heat Lamp jacket in the Lost In The Tube colorway can still be purchased for $480 directly on Mother’s site… but we envision the Steinfeld-approved pick will sell out in no time after its major product-placement moment.

While the fleece was an apt choice in context of the setting Allen and Steinfeld chose for their pregnancy reveal, it was even more spot-on in regards to the “Sinners” actress now being a mother. Indeed, the jacket is reversible, and on one side it’s adorned by the brand name printed in intersecting diagonals. Should you choose to not be so literal, the other side displays a black-and-white repeating “M.”

Other features to expect here, whether you’re actually expecting or not, is the fact that the winter coat boasts a relaxed fit that makes it layer well over chunky holiday sweaters this season. A stacked collar provides added coverage against the cold, and one side of the jacket is also equipped with a patch pocket for storing nourishing lip balms, pregnancy tests in case you’re also filming a special announcement with your partner, and other fitting tchotchkes.

Our editors are firm believers that fleece jackets become wardrobe nonnegotiables each winter. The best ones provide insulation, comfort, softness, breathability, and style in equal measure, allowing you to don them over looks ranging from the fancy to the casual. (Yes, the right fleece can go overtop a cocktail gown without ruining the classiness of the look.) And The Reversible Heat Lamp jacket isn’t the only Mother bestseller in this category that’s available for the taking as we speak. So too is the The Heat Lamp something that won’t let you down in the next couple of months, while also being a selection that benefits from a folk art–inspired print and is thus a bit more vibrant than Steinfeld’s own minimalist-leaning Mother pick.

And if you’re more into faux-fur outerwear — trendy as can be in fashion right now — show your love for all things plush and maximalist with the Mother Iris Coat, which will also help you feel fancier via its leopard print.

Clearly, the circa-2010, Los Angeles–based label launched by two denim industry veterans has by now expanded beyond its viral (and avant-garde) jean offerings to encompass other ready-to-wear staples, from dresses and tees to leather pants and jackets, of course. As its product names signify, Mother thinks outside the box and colors outside the lines — something that appeals to other stars besides Steinfeld, like Olivia Wilde, Emma Roberts, Meghan Markle, and even Taylor Swift, who have all been spotted in Mother’s jeans and other attire over the years.

While the brand doesn’t have a dedicated maternity section per se, you can do what Steinfeld did and share your happiness with the world through pieces like the Boxy Goodie Inset tee and The Oversized Hoodie, which will relay your newest occupation without you having to say a word. The aforementioned Millie Bobby Brown, for one, was seen out and about with her husband and baby while wearing none other than Mother’s The Camper crewneck sweatshirt. You guessed it: The studded, pale orchid–hued crowd favorite had “mother” stenciled front and center, because the miracle of making new life deserves some on-the-nose recognition.
