MILAN — In a frenetic world, being able to count on a good night’s sleep has become the ultimate luxury.
The endeavor has been taken to heart by the interior design world, which — since the COVID-19 pandemic — has been on a mission to create relaxing atmospheres that usher the poetry of the outdoors back into the home. In terms of style, surreal renderings of nature and all its nuances have been etched into new models and vintage revivals.
Here, WWD compiles a list of innovative bedroom pieces.
Gufram and Snarkitecture’s Sculpted Mirror
Sculpted Mirror is the result of a collaboration between Gufram and Snarkitecture.
In envisaging the Sculpted Mirror for Gufram, Snarkitecture founders designers Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham carefully studied the theme of reflective surfaces. Made of soft polyurethane and hand-finished with a patented material named Guflac, this subtle yet surreal piece was modeled in a shape guided by the theme of irregular, spontaneous movement.
The Fluxus Pietrachiara Screen

The Flexus Pietrachiara bamboo rollable screen.
The Fluxus Pietrachiara screen echoes the movement of water, with a flexible, modular structure that can even be rolled onto itself for practicality. The elegant dressing screen is made out of moso, which is said to be the strongest species of bamboo. Each piece is stabilized by Verona marble stops and is carefully hand-painted, first with a brush and then by cloth, creating a delicate watercolor effect that renders each screen as one-of-a-kind.
