“Summer, pre-fall aka S.O.S.,” Sarah Staudinger declared of her latest “Summer of Staud” collection.
The designer said her time spent in Positano over the last few summers inspired her to bring the coastal Italian town’s warmth and casual optimism into her latest lineup. New scenic prints of the cliffside beaches directly evoked her inspirations, as seen emblazoned on two standout, ultra-easy summer gowns in lightweight mesh and slightly crinkled organza with sparkling jewel embellishments.
“I kept coming back to this idea of ‘Tutto passa,’ or ‘This too shall pass.’ In Italian, they look at it more optimistically; there’s a freedom in accepting that,” she said, explaining the phrase helped her and her team to design pieces that don’t “demand perfection,” but rather embrace the moment, are relaxed yet confident, and uphold the playful quirkiness that continues to set her brand apart.
The idea came to life through ample colorful, mix-and-match layers, such as asymmetrical skirts that double as a minidress or a tunic atop color-contrasting taffeta Stroll pants; chic thin cabana-striped sets in neutral tones; studded swimwear beneath a great new brown caftan, and sweet lace-trimmed tanks and cropped balloon pants that nicely played into the ongoing vintage boho style trend.
She rounded out the collection with a strong variety of personality-filled styles from head to toe spanning from new beaded tube tops, inspired by her popular Tommy Bag, with cheeky “Staud Sunscreen” and “Staudelloni” motifs, to puffy leather sandals and the return of her well-loved, fish-shaped handbags.
With her strong variety of new summer-friendly handbag shapes, ample functional-yet-playful footwear and strong selection of everyday and statement fashions, Staudinger’s collection continued to amplify what customers continue to flock to her for.
