Lily Collins channeled the late ’90s in her vintage Fendi look for her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in New York City on Tuesday night.
The “Emily in Paris” star turned to stylist Andrew Mukamal, who curated Collins’ fall 1997 collection Fendi look. Under the creative direction of the late Karl Lagerfeld, the dress featured sheer material contrasted by strategically placed shapes of black fabric.

The sleeveless dress’ silhouette was crafted with a formfitting bodice and a cinched waist for added definition that transitioned into a coquelicot-shaped skirt. Geometric lines and shapes of black juxtaposed the sheer elements of the dress on the bodice and skirt.
Collins favored over-the-knee boots by Fendi as well to further augment the signature Lagerfeld-edgy sartorial style. As for jewelry, the actress went minimal, save for a ring and small earrings to accessorize her look and add a few touches of sparkle.

With the cultural resurgence of late ’90s and early 2000s trends, Mukamal’s choice to style Collins’ in a ’97 Fendi look coincides with other high-profile figures turning to the time period for their respective wardrobe.
For her Monday night appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” Sabrina Carpenter wore a look from Chantal Thomass’ fall 1994 collection. Much like Collins’ Fendi look, Carpenter’s dress also channeled a certain edgy appeal and aesthetic sensuality.
