When it comes to her hair, there’s no telling what Zoe Saldaña will do next.

Her manifold style has certainly been unpredictable throughout the press tour for her upcoming film, “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” in which she reprises her role as Neytiri (the powerful Na’vi princess) alongside Kate Winslet, Stephen Lang and Oona Chaplin. From frizzy coil extensions to soft waves, the looks have spanned cuts, lengths and colors to evoke the warrior that she is, on and off the screen.

According to her stylist, Rōz founder Mara Roszak, the two took inspiration from her fiery character and the culture of the cities. Ahead, WWD breaks down every hairstyle sported by Saldaña on the “Avatar: Fire and Ash” red carpet.

For the world premiere of “Avatar: Fire and Ash” in Los Angeles, Zoe Saldaña was her natural self, donning little to no makeup with muted waves tucked behind her shoulders. With her ends hidden, the cameras caught faint glimpses of her medium brown highlights between her inky coloring. For a bit of volume, Roszak lifted the top layer of her hair in the back of her head and doused it in the Rōz Root Lift.

The following day, Roszak shared a photo of Saldaña’s hair in a half-up, half-down ponytail; the top was slicked firmly back from her forehead, and the ends were straightened.

At the “Avatar: Fire and Ash” photocall, Saldaña and Roszak kicked it up a notch, adding inches to the ends of her hair with a long braided ponytail extension. Roszak told WWD: “The inspiration was definitely a combination of being in Paris, her structured Balenciaga (outfit), and of course, her character Neytiri in ‘Avatar.’”

On how she created the hairdo, the artist explained: “I used Rōz Santa Lucia Styling Oil to blow dry her hair smooth and then used the Evergreen Style Cream to center part her hair and slick it back into a high pony. I wove sections of extensions into her braid to create the dramatic length.”

For the premiere in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, Saldaña and Roszak played with the structure of the ponytail, taking the long extensions out to tie only her natural hair behind her back. Here, Roszak used a long black ribbon to loosely hold Saldaña’s ends together. Her front layers were left alone to fall naturally around her face. Roszak described the style online: “An effortless low pony with touchable softness and shine.”

The most recent premiere stop in China saw Saldaña break free of the ponytail to let her wild coils roar on the “Avatar: Fire and Ash” red carpet. Her chocolate highlights were front and center, snaking through her dark hair. The natural texture was, of course, courtesy of Rōz products; however, Roszak has yet to reveal which ones. “Ethereal goddess” is what the artist named the look on her Instagram on Monday.

WWD has reached out to Roszak for further comments.

“Avatar: Fire and Ash” is set to release in theaters on Dec. 19. Already, the film has been nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards in January.
