The popular streaming platform has suffered a brief outage in the United States on Wednesday evening, leaving thousands of users unable to stream content just as the final season of Stranger Things went live.
Downdetector, which compiles user complaints from multiple sources, logged more than 8,000 problem reports at the time of writing this article. Even hundreds of users in India were facing glitches. Most viewers cited glitches in video playback, while a sizeable share reported server-connection errors.
The timing amplified the frustration. Within minutes of the Stranger Things premiere, social media filled with posts from viewers saying their screens had frozen or the app had crashed.
According to Downdetector, 51 per cent of complaints were tied to streaming failures, and 41 per cent pointed to server issues.
