Kaia Gerber Gives Grover, the Muppet, a Supermodel Spin

We know Miss Piggy is a style icon, but what about Grover? Thankfully, Kaia Gerber is showing some love to the unsung Muppet.

Last night, the model arrived at Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills dressed in a holiday party-ready outfit: a black crewneck micro minidress, black pointy-toe slingbacks, and a faux fur coat. But Gerber’s cozy jacket diverged from the rest of her color palette, in a sumptuous, inky blue. Grover blue, if we’re being specific.

Gerber wore the midnight blue coat first in a recent Mango holiday campaign. (Gerber is an ambassador for the Spanish brand.) Now, she’s taking her the look off the set and into the real world. Hitting up the beloved Los Angeles sushi joint, she made the outfit more her own by ditching the black tights in favor of a bare leg, and adding a pair of oversized silver hoop earrings.

Sure, Gerber is almost certainly fulfilling contractual obligations to Mango. But—walk with me here—what if this outfit is all part of a bigger plan? Gerber is a noted fan of Cole Escola, who recently announced that they are writing a screenplay for a forthcoming Miss Piggy movie, to be produced by Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone. What if this is all a chance for Gerber to plant the seed…to let the powers that be see her embodying the role?

Maybe that’s all a bit far-fetched. Maybe we’re a bit Muppets on the brain. (Miss Piggy was the final arrestee at Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour in Los Angeles last night.) But if (when!) you see a Deadline article announcing that Kaia Gerber will star as Grover in the Miss Piggy movie, remember…you heard it here first.
