SRINAGAR: Senior police officers interacted with students and faculty of Darul Uloom in Preng of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Saturday under “Operation Pathshala,” an initiative launched six months ago to reach out to the Muslim youth through Islamic seminaries.Officials briefed students about “various harmful influences that can mislead youth,” urging them to make informed and responsible choices.“Ganderbal SSP stressed the importance of education, discipline, and positive community roles in shaping a peaceful and progressive society. He encouraged students to stay focused on their goals, remain aware of contemporary challenges, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building,” police said in a statement.“A healthy interaction followed, during which students raised questions about education, career prospects, law enforcement, and social issues. These were addressed in detail by the police officers,” the statement added.Police reiterated their commitment to fostering trust, strengthening police-public relations, and ensuring a safe environment for the youth.A month ago, state police, in coordination with religious scholars and imams, had organised a lecture at Darul Uloom in the border district of Handwara, on “the themes of love for one’s country and deradicalization.”During that seminar, both religious scholars and police officials “cautioned against extremist ideologies and urged the youth to adopt moderation, brotherhood, and constructive roles in society.”
