Bollywood actress and youth advocate Sanjana Sanghi was honoured with the prestigious Moonshot Spark Award at the Annual Moonshot Gala in New York City. The award recognises exceptional young leaders whose early-stage projects and social ventures show significant potential to create meaningful change in society and the environment.

Sanghi’s achievement followed a rigorous selection process from thousands of applicants across more than 120 countries, highlighting the global relevance of her work in youth empowerment, education, and digital equity. Over the years, she has successfully bridged her entertainment career with purposeful social impact, using her platform to drive awareness and action on pressing societal issues.
On receiving the award, Sanjana Sanghi said, “This award is not only a recognition of my work but a validation of the youth-led movement for systemic change. To be selected from applicants across 120 countries confirms that the causes I champion—youth inclusion, digital equity, and access to education for girls—resonate globally. I am grateful for the opportunity to impact millions of lives through our programmes and scholarships that help young people envision the future they dream of.”
Sanghi serves as the Youth Champion for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India, advocating for education access, especially for girls and underserved communities. She also led the Youth Co Lab, an accelerator program supporting young socially-led startups, and has delivered keynote addresses at the United Nations General Assembly, amplifying her voice for youth inclusion on an international platform.
For the Gala, Sanjana Sanghi chose the Haathi Harmony Hand-Painted Pichhwai Silk Skirt Set by Anita Dongre, a contemporary ensemble that celebrates the 400-year-old Pichhwai craft. Each motif is meticulously hand-painted by master artisans, with the iconic Haathi symbol, representing gentle strength and kindness, featured on the jacket. The outfit, elevated with gota patti, pearls, and sequins, showcased India’s rich artistic heritage on a global stage. Sanjana’s choice of attire reflected her personal alignment with the values she promotes through her social initiatives, underlining the harmony between culture, artistry, and social impact.
