The much-awaited trailer of Perfect Family was released, giving viewers a glimpse into a quirky, chaotic, and relatable Punjabi household. Featuring Neha Dhupia, Gulshan Devaiah, and Girija Oak Godbole in lead roles, the series blended humour with heartfelt family moments while touching on themes of mental health and therapy within Indian families.

Perfect Family is an eight-episode dramedy that marks a significant moment in India’s digital entertainment space. Presented as a “JAR Series” and produced by Ajay Rai under JAR Pictures along with Mohit Chhabra, the project also marks actor Pankaj Tripathi’s debut as a producer. It is set to become India’s first long-format series to premiere directly on YouTube through a structured pay model. This format follows the path set earlier by Sitare Zameen Par, which also arrived on YouTube after its theatrical release.
Created by Palak Bhambri and directed by Sachin Pathak, the series premiers on the official JAR Series YouTube channel on November 27. The first two episodes will be available to watch for free, while the remaining episodes could be unlocked with a one-time purchase of Rs. 59, making the show accessible to viewers worldwide.
With a talented ensemble cast including Gulshan Devaiah, Neha Dhupia, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa, and Girija Oak Godbole, Perfect Family follows the story of a not-so-perfect Punjabi family encouraged to attend therapy after an unexpected incident involving their young granddaughter. What follows was a mix of confusion, heartfelt moments, and emotional growth.
The series uses humour to explore how mental health is discussed—or overlooked—within Indian families, opening the door to meaningful conversations through a light and relatable narrative.
Reflecting on the show, Gulshan Devaiah said, “Perfect Family was the kind of story that felt both entertaining and necessary. In India, we rarely talk openly about mental health, especially within families. The show approached that discomfort with warmth and humour. Playing a character trying to keep his family together during therapy sessions was both enjoyable and meaningful. I hope audiences find a bit of themselves in each character and take away something real while enjoying the experience.”
Sharing her thoughts, Neha Dhupia added, “When I first heard the script of Perfect Family, I immediately connected with its honesty, humour, and relatability. Families can be messy, emotional, and dramatic, and that’s what makes them special. I appreciated how the show addressed therapy without making it feel heavy, aiming to normalise it instead.
