Delhi Traffic Police issues advisory, major Red Fort diversions from 19–25 Nov

Delhi Traffic Police have announced a detailed traffic advisory for the 350th Martyrdom Day of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, which will be observed at Red Fort from 19 November to 25 November 2025. The area is expected to see a heavy crowd and slower traffic movement through the week. To manage the flow, several roads may be restricted, and multiple diversions will be enforced during peak hours. Commuters are advised to stay alert and plan their routes in advance.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS AND DIVERSIONS AROUND RED FORT

To handle the increased footfall, traffic movement on Netaji Subhash Marg and Nishad Raj Marg may be restricted depending on real-time conditions. The Delhi Traffic Police have also stated that buses and commercial vehicles approaching from Delhi Gate and Chhata Rail Chowk may be diverted towards Ring Road between 4 pm and 11 pm throughout the event days.

Additional point diversions can come into effect as needed from Chhata Rail Chowk, GPO Chowk, Delhi Gate, Shanti Van Chowk, Hanuman Mandir Crossing, and the T-Point on Subhash Marg. Drivers using these stretches should be prepared for sudden route changes and follow on-ground traffic personnel.

    PARKING OPTIONS FOR VISITORS

Those visiting Red Fort or Chandni Chowk during the week-long programme should use the designated parking spots to prevent congestion. Available parking areas include Parade Ground, ASI Parkings, Dangal Maidan, Omaxe Mall, Church Mission Road, and the Service Road near Shanti Van. Using only these marked zones will help keep internal roads clearer for both event visitors and daily commuters.

ROUTES TO AVOID AND COMMUTER ADVICE

To avoid delays, commuters should skip the busier stretches such as Ring Road (Rajghat–Chandgiram Akhara), Netaji Subhash Marg, Nishad Raj Marg, SPM Marg, Lothian Road, and Boulevard Road.

Public transport, especially the Delhi Metro, will be the smoother option during this period. The advisory also asks people to follow the directions of traffic staff on duty and keep an eye on updates posted by Delhi Traffic Police across their social media channels.
