The University of Liverpool has announced that its first India campus will open in Alembic City, Bengaluru, in 2026. Admissions for the inaugural cohort are now open, marking the beginning of the university’s expansion into India. A NEW LEARNING SPACE IN BENGALURU
The Bengaluru campus is designed as a fully modern learning centre.
It will feature smart classrooms that support hands-on learning, case-based discussions and flipped teaching models.
Dedicated research spaces, innovation studios and collaborative hubs will allow students from different fields to work together and interact with industry partners.
Students will also have access to specialised laboratories and Bloomberg terminals, offering exposure to tools used in global workplaces.
The university says the aim is to create a flexible space that supports different styles of learning and helps students build practical skills.
COURSES AND ACADEMIC OFFERINGS
Admissions for the first cohort in 2026 are now open.
Students can choose from programmes in Computer Science, Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Biomedical Sciences, and Game Design — a first-of-its-kind offering from a UK university’s India campus.
The degrees will follow UK academic standards while being adapted to meet India’s growing demand for future-ready skills.
CAMPUS VISION AND NEP ALIGNMENT
Lucy Everest, Chief Operating Officer of the University of Liverpool, visited Mumbai and Bengaluru from November 15 to 19. During her visit, she met school leaders, educators and prospective students.
She also delivered a keynote address in Mumbai, highlighting how the Bengaluru campus aligns with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to raise higher-education enrolment to 50% by 2035.
She said the India campus reflects the NEP vision of creating institutions that are globally linked while remaining relevant to local needs. Everest added that Alembic City provides the right setting for the university’s plans in India.
The university also plans to establish a strong research base in Bengaluru.
It will focus on areas important to both India and the UK, including sustainability, digital transformation, innovation and health sciences. The aim is to strengthen collaboration between researchers, industry and government.
The new campus includes an integrated “experience zone,” built as an open hub for students, faculty, industry partners and the community. Modular classrooms will shift quickly between group work and seminar formats.
A co-working space will be available for faculty members, student teams and entrepreneurs, encouraging direct knowledge exchange.
