Class 7 boy thrashed by four seniors in Tamil Nadu hostel

A 7th standard student staying at the Social Justice Hostel in Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram was brutally attacked by four senior students allegedly after he tore a record note. The incident occurred on the night of November 10, inside a hostel that houses nearly 50 students from various communities.

According to officials, a 12th standard student and three of his friends assaulted the boy inside the premises. The warden, after learning about the attack, alerted the District Child Welfare Officer. An inquiry team questioned the students, who admitted to assaulting the younger boy.

Preliminary findings reportedly ruled out any caste-related motive behind the attack. Officials then summoned the parents of the accused students, made the boys write an apology note, and expelled them from the hostel.

However, the incident gained wider attention after visuals of the brutal assault recorded on a mobile phone by one of the elder students inexplicably surfaced online and quickly went viral. Authorities have not issued any further statements regarding the viral video.
