The deceased have been identified as Samundi and a 17-year-old boy. They were near a farm owned by one Basha in Kuppantham village when they touched the illegal power fence, resulting in death by electrocution.

In an apparent attempt to conceal the incident, the bodies were dumped into a nearby well on the farm. Chengam Police received a tip-off, rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them to the District Government Hospital for postmortem examination.
