Veteran filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt recently opened up about his strained relationship with brother Mahesh Bhatt and the emotional distance that has extended to the younger generation of their family. In a recent conversation with Lehren Retro, Mukesh revealed that he was not invited to his niece Alia Bhatt’s wedding to Ranbir Kapoor and admitted that he hasn’t met their daughter, Raha, either.

Talking about his absence from Alia’s wedding, Mukesh candidly shared, “I will be a hypocrite if I say I didn’t feel bad. Of course, I felt bad. I love Alia a lot and not just her, even Shaheen. So when she got married, I thought meri bacchi ki shaadi hai (my daughter is getting married). I was very much wanting to be there.”
The producer went on to say that he has never met Alia and Ranbir’s three-year-old daughter, Raha. Expressing his longing, he said, “When I got to know that Alia is pregnant and then she had a baby, meri aankhein taras gayi Raha ko dekhne ke liye (my eyes yearn to see Raha). I love kids a lot.”
Despite the distance, Mukesh clarified that he chose not to reach out to avoid creating an uncomfortable situation for Alia. “I didn’t even try because I didn’t want to put her in a position of discomfort. I didn’t want to put her in a position where she had to see how will her father feel if I come and meet her,” he explained.
Concluding on a heartfelt note, he added that his affection and blessings remain unchanged. “Maine dil se dua de di (I blessed them from my heart),” he said.
For context, the Bhatt brothers—Mahesh and Mukesh—co-founded Vishesh Films and delivered several notable hits together. However, their professional and personal relationship soured over time, and in 2021, Mukesh officially took charge of the banner, announcing that Mahesh would no longer be part of its future projects.
