In the latest episode of Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, featuring Vicky Kaushal and Kriti Sanon, the discussion turned toward one of society’s longest-standing ideas — how marriage is often viewed differently for men and women. While men are typically encouraged to marry once they’re “settled,” women are still subtly told that marriage might mark a slowdown in their personal or professional lives.

Kajol shares a powerful perspective on how women are redefining marriage: “Marriage doesn’t stop a woman’s growth anymore”
Kajol, known for her honesty and thoughtful opinions, shared a perspective that was both practical and empowering. She highlighted that marriage, when built on equality, is truly about partnership — and that the belief that women lose their individuality or ambition after marriage is changing, largely because women themselves are redefining what marriage means.
“It has to do with the person themselves — with the women themselves. I know a lot of women who have gotten married and have not slowed down at all. In fact, they’ve taken it to another level — gone forward, gotten a promotion, had kids, and decided to live in another city,” Kajol said.
Her words reflected the changing mindset of modern women, who are finding ways to balance personal growth and partnership. Kajol further explained that much of this shift comes from women’s evolving expectations — both of themselves and their relationships. “I think it has to do with the women also, somewhere down the line — their expectations of themselves. Obviously, they have expectations of what they’re ‘supposed to be,’ as well as what they can be. I think those are two different subjects altogether. And in this day and age, women are definitely looking at marriage as a partnership. Yes, I will definitely be a daughter-in-law, a part of your family — but you will also be a part of mine,” she said.
Kajol’s words resonate deeply in a time when many women are rewriting old ideas of success, independence, and companionship. Her reflections serve as a reminder that marriage today is not a finish line or a milestone to be achieved but a shared journey built on mutual respect and understanding — one where women continue to define their own paths.
