The much-awaited Love Lingo Season 2 has returned with its first episode, continuing to explore the evolving language of love, identity, and culture through open, thoughtful conversations. Hosted by Jas Sagu and Arsala Qureishi, the new season builds on the success of the first, diving deeper into themes of self-discovery, freedom, and emotional truth.

In the opening episode, actor Kubbra Sait joins the hosts to reflect on what it means to be labeled a “good girl gone bad” — not as an act of rebellion, but as a journey of growth. Speaking with her usual candor and warmth, Kubbra unpacks how societal conditioning often defines women’s choices and identities.

Following Deepika Padukone’s powerful statement from the previous season — “By virtue of being a woman, I’m called pushy” — which addressed gender bias and double standards in the workplace, Kubbra continues the conversation around expectations placed on women.

Recalling a memory from her childhood, she says, “Good girls don’t talk to boys. Good girls don’t wear lipstick. Good girls just listen. That was written on a poster I saw growing up. But none of that exists in my life anymore. I’m not living by the Gregorian calendar, not by rules that tell me when to marry or when to be happy. I learned how to swim at 30, to dive into the open ocean — and that’s what freedom feels like.”

Her reflection captures the essence of Love Lingo: courage, authenticity, and the ongoing evolution of self. Kubbra’s words echo a universal message — that true freedom begins when women reclaim their voices, timelines, and choices without apology.

Kubbra Sait on Sacred Games and Trusting Her Collaborators

During the episode, Arsala Qureishi revisits Kubbra’s groundbreaking portrayal of Kukoo in Sacred Games. She praises the actor’s performance, saying, “No one comes to Mumbai thinking, ‘I’ll play a transgender role and get famous.’ You did that and gave people who are transgender a sense of belief — that they can be comfortable in who they are, and the world will still love them. It was such a sensitive portrayal. Hats off to the Sacred Games team.”

Kubbra responded with humility, acknowledging the collaborative effort behind the role. “I think Anurag wrote it so well,” she said, referring to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. “Nothing is created in isolation, only in collaboration. I was very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time and to have the intuition not to say no.”

Reflecting further on her experience working with Kashyap and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, she added, “Imagine working with a recipe that includes Anurag Kashyap and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Can I say that I trust the people I’m working with — as collaborators, as a culture of creativity? Yes. Great.”

Her remarks highlight the importance of trust and teamwork in creating art that connects deeply with audiences — a theme that runs throughout both Sacred Games and Love Lingo.

The Spirit of Love Lingo Season 2

What makes Love Lingo stand out is its ability to move seamlessly between topics — from personal identity to artistic expression, from societal expectations to emotional honesty. Each episode feels intimate yet universal, offering conversations that are as thought-provoking as they are healing.

Like its first season, Love Lingo Season 2 continues to deliver not just stories, but meaningful dialogue that lingers long after the episode ends. It celebrates vulnerability, self-awareness, and the courage to question norms — reminding listeners that love, in all its forms, begins with understanding oneself.
