For the first time in his career, Abhishek Bachchan dons the antagonist’s mantle in Siddharth Anand’s King, the much talked-about action film where Shah Rukh and his daughter Suhana Khan play the lead roles, though not father and daughter.

Shedding light on his participation in what is essentially a launch pad for a star daughter, a source close to the development said, “Abhishek was hesitant to play a villain, especially after his recent gentle parts in I Want To Talk and Kaalidhar Laapata. It was Shah Rukh who convinced Abhishek to venture into villainy, a journey Abhishek would not have undertaken otherwise.”
Abhishek has always been very close to Shah Rukh. They worked together in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year and will now be exchanging blows, though only on screen.
