Panchayat – Season 4 (Amazon Prime Video, 2025)
A heart-warming slice-of-life series set in rural India (village Phulera), returning with familiar characters and new mis-adventures. Like the previous three seasons, this one also featured some delightful performances from Jitendra Kumar, Saanvika, Raghuvir Yadav and Neena Gupta.
Why it stood out: Relatable setting + humor plus emotion made it a comfortable binge-watch.
Ek Badnaam Aashram – Season 3 Part 2 (MX Player, 2025)
A gritty crime-drama series featuring Bobby Deol in a powerful negative role, diving into politics, crime and cult-like followings. The season continued the focus on the dark activities by a revered figure in the name of God and social work.
Why it stood out: High-drama, mass-appeal characters and binge-friendly pacing.
Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins (Netflix, 25 April 2025)
A slick heist thriller in which a charming con-man (played by Saif Ali Khan) is hired by a ruthless crime boss (Jaideep Ahlawat) to steal the world’s rarest diamond. Also starring Nikita Dutta, the show’s USP was its regular twists and turns, right till the ending moments.
Why it stood out: Big star cast + direct OTT release (no theatrical delay) made it instantly accessible — perfect for a weekend binge.
Criminal Justice – Season 4 (JioHotstar, 2025)
Legal-thriller series with Pankaj Tripathi returning as lawyer Madhav Mishra, navigating a morally grey and high-profile case. Along with the courtroom drama, this season also was also like a mystery drama. Apart from the central character, it also had fine performances from Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Surveen Chawla and Asha Negi.
Why it stood out: Strong lead actor + established franchise + episodic format made it ideal for binge sessions.
Tehran (ZEE5, 14 August 2025)
A high-stakes spy thriller featuring John Abraham as a Special Cell officer caught between Indian, Israeli and Iranian worlds after a bomb blast in Delhi. As opposed to the many larger-than-life action thrillers seen post-pandemic, this one was a serious and sensible film in the genre.
Why it stood out: It became the fastest Hindi film of 2025 on ZEE5 to cross 100 million streaming minutes in just 72 hours, showing it had serious reach.
Paatal Lok – Season 2 (Amazon Prime Video, 2025)
Dark investigative thriller that follows a disillusioned cop through the underbelly of society, with strong performances and twisty writing. The show continued the good performances from the likes of Jaideep Ahlawat and Ishwak Singh, who reprised their characters from the first season.
Why it stood out: Intensity + suspense made it a compelling “just one more episode” kind of series.
