Actor Shilpa Shirodkar, who is currently promoting her comeback film Jatadhara, recently opened up about her brother-in-law, Mahesh Babu, describing him as a genuinely kind and grounded person.

In an interview with Prema, Shilpa was asked about her bond with Mahesh. Speaking fondly of him, she said, “He is family and one of the kindest souls I’ve met. As an actor, I’m a fan of Mahesh. He is my brother-in-law and honestly, he’s one person who only wants the best for everyone. There’s no malice, jealousy, or envy in him. He is exactly what you see of him.”
Mahesh Babu is known in the Telugu film industry for appreciating cinema across languages and often sharing his thoughts on films through social media. When asked if she had ever discussed the possibility of working with him, Shilpa replied, “No, I haven’t crossed that path yet. But maybe if Jatadhara does well… I haven’t asked him about it,” she said with a smile.
For the unversed, Shilpa’s sister, former actor and model Namrata Shirodkar, has been married to Mahesh Babu for two decades. The couple has two children, Gautam and Sitara, who are reportedly interested in following their parents into acting.
Shilpa Shirodkar’s journey and comeback
Shilpa made her Bollywood debut in the late 1980s and appeared in several popular films before stepping away from the industry after MF Husain’s Gaja Gamini (2000) and her marriage to Aparesh Ranjit. The couple has a daughter together.
She later transitioned to television, featuring in shows such as Ek Mutthi Aasmaan, Silsila Pyaar Ka, and Savitri Devi College & Hospital. In 2020, she made a brief comeback with the Hindi action film Guns of Banaras.
Now, with Jatadhara, a mythological horror drama co-starring Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha, Shilpa is returning to the big screen in a significant role.
Mahesh Babu’s upcoming projects
Mahesh Babu was last seen in Trivikram Srinivas’ Guntur Kaaram (2024). He is currently working on a highly anticipated action-adventure film with SS Rajamouli, tentatively titled SSMB29, also starring Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
