Vince, Jimmy Choo, and Todd Snyder are among the brands and retailers participating in the upcoming “Madison Avenue Men,” a series of private shopping events presented by the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District in partnership with the Food Bank for NYC.
The event kicks off Saturday, runs through Nov. 14, and is designed to raise funds for the Food Bank for NYC, stir shopping along Madison Avenue, and provide fashion, grooming, spa and health and wellness advice and experiences for men.
Stores between East 57th and East 86th Streets along Madison Avenue will host private appointments for men to receive some “white glove” service. Ten percent of sales during each private appointment will be donated to the Food Bank for NYC. On Saturday, a host of in-store festivities, sidewalk activations with refreshments and experiences will be held and there will be a curated tour of participating stores conducted by men’s stylist and editor Michael Macko. In addition, Food Bank’s celebrity ambassador, Isaac Boots, will serve as an advocate for the initiative, driving awareness and participation, and will partner with Jimmy Choo, among the many participating stores, to host a private event in support of the campaign.
“Madison Avenue is where men go to look their best, and nothing can make them feel their best more than knowing that their purchases are supporting the critical work of Food Bank for NYC,” said Matthew Bauer, president of the Madison Avenue BID.
“We’re grateful to the Madison Avenue BID and the participating stores for coming together to channel the spirit of the season toward a greater purpose,” said Stefanie Shuman, director, external communications, media relations, and brand partnerships at Food Bank for NYC. “This collaboration highlights the powerful intersection of fashion and philanthropy, rallying the city’s most iconic avenue to help us raise critical funds during a time when so many New Yorkers need our support.”
Other stores participating in Madison Avenue Men include Bogner, Baobab Collection, Collezione New York Wine and Spirits, Cremieux, Davide Cenci, D.S. & Durga, Etro, Mackage, Mandelli, Missoni, Morgenthal Frederics, N.Peal, Orveda Maison, Parfums de Marly, Peserico, Sunspel, Wellness+Studio, and Zadig and Voltaire.
The event is just one of several the BID stages during the year to draw shopper traffic to the avenue, celebrate holidays, and support charities and causes. For example, in September, the BID staged “Step Up for Fashion” marking the return of fall fashion and supporting the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s scholarship fund, and in December, there’s “Miracle on Madison Avenue” to benefit the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
The Food Bank for NYC’s mission is to empower New Yorkers to achieve food security and learn about nutrition. The organization works with more than 800 soup kitchens, food pantries, food providers, volunteers and others, and also has economic empowerment programs to give people the tools and know-how to improve their financial wellness.
