Rihanna Approves This Under-Repped Animal Print

At this stage we all know leopard print is a neutral, but as a society, we’ve yet to convene on the status of snake print. Rihanna has made her case.

The pop star and Fenty mogul stepped out in Los Angeles yesterday (October 30) to do some shopping, wearing a voluminous button down, khaki green shirt dress with a starched white collar. She paired it with snake print Amina Muaddi stiletto boots. The rest of her outfit was styled sparingly, sans much jewelry, with a pair of dark sunglasses, and her hair in a messy bun.

These statement knee-high boots have become a staple in Rihanna’s wardrobe, wearing them on regular rotation through the court trial of her partner A$AP Rocky, on a Valentine’s Day date night, and in her general day-to-day business around Beverly Hills. She has paired the boots with a flowing, bottle green Balenciaga plisse dress, a pinstripe suit, and a double-denim co-ord, adding accessories like a woven Bottega Veneta purse, an ultra-rare Louis Vuitton bag, and her son RZA on her hip—proving how versatile the print can actually be.

A focal accessory or footwear is a Rihanna calling card—while it’s rare to catch Rih without an impossibly archival Fendi baguette or a gargantuan headpiece, her shoes will pack a punch just as often. This week, she paired a silky bandana and vintage sneakers together to serve a pop of pink amid her otherwise monochromatic black look. Among an enviable collection of Prada, Dior, Puma, and Balenciaga shoes, the Amina Muaddi Barbara boot is Rih’s hardest working pair.
