Kareena Kapoor Khan brought star power and purpose to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 semi-final between India and Australia as she led the Trophy Walkout in Mumbai on Friday. The initiative, held under UNICEF’s ‘Promise to Children’ campaign in partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC), aims to promote equal rights and opportunities for all children, especially girls.

Kareena was joined on the field by UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey and two children, Lubna Shah and Gaurav Sharma, symbolizing the campaign’s core message — that every child deserves access to education, health, nutrition, and safety. The partnership leverages cricket’s global appeal to drive awareness around child rights and empowerment.
The actress also took to Instagram to share her experience from the match, writing, “Being at the stadium today was so special … the energy, the cheers, the love for women’s cricket! It’s moments like these that remind me why it’s so important to let every child, especially girls, dream without limits.”
Speaking about her participation, Kareena said, “As UNICEF India National Ambassador, I am honoured to be part of this partnership with the ICC to champion children’s rights connecting with millions of people, through their love for cricket. When such a powerful platform carries messages of equality and opportunity for children, it has the power to inspire change.” She added, “When children are healthy, educated, safe, they thrive and only then can they fulfil their dreams. The ICC Women’s World Cup demonstrates that potential.”
Cynthia McCaffrey, UNICEF India Representative, also highlighted the ongoing collaboration, stating, “The partnership between ICC and UNICEF champions the rights and empowerment of every child, especially girls. Through our on-going Promise to Children campaign, we are calling on everyone to take small but meaningful actions so that every child has the chance to learn, play, and grow in a safe and supportive environment.”
The Promise to Children campaign was launched in September 2025 and is being promoted across match venues in India and Sri Lanka throughout the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Kareena Kapoor Khan has been associated with UNICEF India for over a decade, advocating for children’s rights and welfare through initiatives focused on education, gender equality, and early development.
On the professional front, Kareena will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra, co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran.
